Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D)

The Institute offers following doctoral programmes:

Eligibility For M.Tech. Programme

• The candidate must have Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology or a Master’s degree in appropriate discipline of science or equivalent (as given in section 3 of Information Brochure) with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks or CPI (Cumulative Performance Index on ten point scale) of 6.5 at qualifying Examination (as given in section 3 of Information Brochure). For SC/ST candidate’s eligibility in specified minimum marks/CPI shall be relaxed by 5% as per the Government of India norms.
• The eligibility conditions given above are the absolute minimum. Departments may prescribe any requirements over and above these, subject to the approval of the Senate.
• Reservation: Reservation will be provided as per rule of Government of India.

• M.Tech. (Part Time)
  Candidates under this category are admitted for the M.Tech. programme which are being offered on part-time basis. A Part-time candidate must have been in full time service for at least two years after completion of qualifying degree at the time of admission. The part-time classes shall be held in the evening on working days. Their semester load requirements for course work shall be about half of the full time course. The minimum duration of such course shall be of three years and maximum duration of the course shall be of five years. These courses are for the professionals working in the Allahabad district. These courses are for the professionals working in the Allahabad district. This programme is a self financed programme and requires a minimum number of candidates to run.
• M.Tech. (Sponsored) Candidates
  
  • Full-Time sponsored Masters' programmes students are those who receive financial support from AICTE under QIP scheme OR from Government/Semi-Government Institutions/Government/Semi-Government Organizations, under study leave. Such a candidate must be sponsored by his/her employer and must have been in employment with the sponsoring organization for at least two years at the time of admission. Candidates in service are to be released on study leave or extraordinary leave from the organization for full-time research work at the Institute and must furnish a sponsorship along with No-objection certificate from the employer.
  • Foreign students shall be sponsored by their Government or awarded scholarship by Govt. of India, Indian Council for Culture Relations (ICCR) or other such agencies / organisations.

Eligibility For M.S.W. Programme

• Candidate must have a minimum of 60% aggregate marks or 6.5 CPI (Cumulative Performance Index on ten point scale) in qualifying examination (as referred in section 2.1). For SC/ST candidates eligibility in specified minimum marks is relaxed to 55% or 6.0 CPI
• The eligibility conditions given above are the absolute minimum. Departments may prescribe any other requirements over and above the absolute minimum, subject to the approval of competent authority.
• Reservation: 27% seats are reserved for OBC candidates, 15% seats are reserved for the Scheduled Castes candidates and 7.5% seats are reserved for the Scheduled Tribes candidates. For persons with physical disability (PD) 3% seats are reserved horizontally as prescribed by Government of India.

Eligibility For Doctoral Program (Please refer NOTE at the bottom also )

• Candidates must have a minimum marks of 60% aggregate or 6.5 C.P.I. (Cumulative Performance Index in ten point scale) in qualifying examination. For SC/ST candidate’s minimum marks will be 55% aggregate or 6.0 CPI.
• The eligibility conditions given above are the absolute minimum. Departments may prescribe any requirements over and above these.

Ph.D. in Engineering

• The applicant with a Master degree in relevant branch of Engineering/Technology with marks not below 60% or CPI 6.5.
• OR
• Applicant with a Bachelors degree in Engineering or Masters Degree in Science / Applied biological sciences / Computer Application or any appropriate discipline with a minimum of 75% marks or CPI 8.0 shall only be considered.

Ph.D. in Management

• Applicant with a Master’s Degree in Management/Technology/ Engineering/ Economics/ Commerce / Science / Computer Applications/Social Science with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent CPI 6.5.
• OR
• Applicants with a Bachelors degree in Engineering with a minimum of 75% marks or CPI 8.0 shall be considered.
• OR
• A qualified Chartered Accountant having minimum three years of professional experience as practicing Chartered Accountant with a minimum of 60% marks at both graduation level, as well as CA examination.

Ph.D. in Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS)

• Applicant with a Master’s Degree in the relevant subject with a minimum of 60% Marks or CPI 6.5.
• OR
• Applicant with a Bachelors degree in Engineering / Pharmacy with marks not below 75% or CPI 8.0 shall only be considered.

Ph.D. in Geographic Information System (GIS) Cell

• Applicant with a M.Tech. or equivalent degree in GIS & Remote Sensing / Civil Engineering / Computer Science & Engineering / Electronics / Information Technology / Agriculture Engineering / Mining Engineering with minimum marks 60% or CPI 6.5.
• OR
• Applicant with a M.Sc. or equivalent degree in GIS & Remote Sensing / Applied Geology / Geophysics / Geography / Environmental Science / Computer Science or degree in Master of Computer Application with minimum marks 75% or CPI 8.0.
• OR
• Applicant with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with a minimum of 75% marks or CPI 8.0.

Note:

• Where the eligibility qualification is Master’s Degree in Science/Computer application/Commerce /Economics/English or any subject of Humanities or Life Sciences or Management, NET / GATE qualification is must [except for course category 13, 14. Further only those receiving fellowships from other agencies such as UGC, CSIR, DST, etc. under course category 12].
• For Course category 11 (Full Time Stipendiary) the candidates must have valid GATE score/NET in relevant branch/subject.
• For SC/ST candidate's minimum marks will be 55% aggregate or 6.0 CPI.

Admission Criteria For M.Tech. Programme

• Admission will be based on written examination conducted by MNNIT Allahabad at MNNIT Allahabad campus and counseling to be held at MNNIT Allahabad. Please refer Important Dates.
• All applicants will be eligible for written examination and may report for written examination with the condition that candidates have themselves ascertained their eligibility as per the Information Brochure. Institute will verify eligibility only at the time of interview or date of document verification.

Admission Criteria For Master of Social Sciences (M.S.W.): Programme

• All applicants will be eligible for written examination and may report for written examination with the condition that candidates have themselves ascertained their eligibility as per the Information Brochure. Institute will verify eligibility only at the time of document verification only.
• Admission will be on the basis of admission test conducted by MNNIT Allahabad at MNNIT Allahabad.

Important Notes:

• Separate application forms must be filled for courses offered by different departments along with the prescribed fee.
• All declarations/results will be declared through admission portal www.academics.mnnit.ac.in/admission2016 only. No separate letter will be sent by the institute for attending the written examination/document verification.
• Candidates are advised to visit the admission portal regularly for update.
• The selected candidate, who has completed all the pre-requisite examinations including project/thesis examination and the viva voce before the date of registration but is unable to produce the certificate in proof of having passed and secured the minimum specified qualifying marks, may be considered for provisional admission. However, if admitted provisionally, they will be required to produce the evidence of their having passed the qualifying degree examination within six weeks from the last date of registration, failing which the admission will automatically be cancelled.

Admission Criteria For Doctoral Program

• All applicants will be eligible for written examination and may report for written examination with the condition that candidates have themselves ascertained their eligibility as per the Information Brochure. Institute will verify eligibility only at the time of interview or date of document verification.
• Admission to the Ph.D. Programme of eligible candidates shall be based on interviews and written examination except course category 14. The candidates of category 14 shall be admitted after checking their eligibility criteria as specified on page 4 by selection committee. These candidates shall be exempted from any Test/Interview.
• In case a candidate does not accept the offer by paying the prescribed fee by the specified date, the offer of admission shall stand automatically withdrawn, and the admission may be offered to the candidates in the waiting list, if any.
• The offer of admission shall also stand withdrawn if the candidate fails to register by the last date of registration after accepting the offer of admission.
• Shortlisted candidates after written examination will be allowed for interview only after verification of documents in original.
• Candidates applying admission under course category 11 (Full Time Institute stipendiary) must have valid GATE score/NET in relevant branch/subject. Please refer eligibility criteria given in section 2 and Note under Eligibility Criteria (Page 4) for more details.
• All declarations/results will be declared through admission portal www.academics.mnnit.ac.in/admission2016 only. No separate admit card/letter will be sent by the institute for attending the written examination / Interview.
